UN Secretary-General António Guterres stressed during the launch of Al Gore’s Climate Trace Initiative the importance of plugging emissions, finance and adaption data gaps.
In a word here Wednesday before the initiative’s launching ceremony at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (UNCCC) COP27, the UN secretary general thanked the Climate Trace Coalition and former US president Al Gore for the initiative.
He said we have huge emissions gaps, finance gaps, adaptation gaps, but those gaps cannot be effectively addressed without plugging the data gaps.
Climate Trace will be ushering in an era of radical transparency for emissions tracking – providing independent emissions data based primarily on direct observation of emitting activities.
