Egyptian International Co-operation Minister Rania el-Mashaat friday discussed co-operation with the Arab Economic Unity Council with the new council chief Ambassador Muhammadi Ahmed Al-Ni.
Minister el-Mashaat expressed support for the role the council plays in advancing economic integration among Arab states through trade and investments.
The council helps Arab states enhance their trade exchange and facilitate the movement of capital and labour el-Mashaat said.
El-Mashaat, who is also Egypt’s representative on the council, went on to say the pan-Arab body would also carry out research to facilitate trade between Arab states.
This research would focus on means to advance Arab economic integration, she said.
El-Mashaat and Al-Ni highlighted the need for streamlining efforts to benefit from other pan-Arab bodies for the economic integration of Arab states.
The council has recently founded an Arab marketing agency and a court of arbitration to settle economic disputes within the Arab region.
Ambassador Al-Ni, for his part, praised el-Mashaat’s efforts for helping the council develop its mechanisms and promote joint Arab coordination.
