The two-day Bahrain Forum for Dialogue: East and West for Human Coexistence started on Thursday under the auspices of Bahraini King Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa.
Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed Tayyeb, the head of the Muslim Council of Elders, and Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church participate in the event alongside a number of religious and cultural figures from around the world.
The event comes within the framework of Bahrain keenness on extending bridges of dialogue between the leaders of religions and doctrines as well as the figures of intellect, culture and media.
The event started on Thursday with an inaugural session on the importance of the dialogue among religions.
