Five cyclists will be setting off today from Cairo to Sharm el-Sheikh.
The organiser of COP27 By Bike, Egyptian-German Youssef Ahmed, accompanied by biking enthusiast Galal Zekri, former ambassador to Egypt Mohamed Elewa and Wolfgang Hohmann, will undertake the six-day, 655-kilometre journey from the German International University at the New Administrative Capital, 35 kilometres east of central Cairo, and arrive in the South Sinai resort on 27 October.
COP27 By Bike is intended to raise awareness of proper waste disposal, physical fitness and wellbeing, and eco-friendly use of natural resources.
Among the sponsors of COP27 by Bike are the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Mercedes Egypt, the German Embassy in Cairo and the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
COP27 , which takes place on November6-18, covers various climate-related topics with the main of implementing the Paris Agreement to limit global warming.
