CAIRO – Egypt’s Youth and Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi, Culture Minister Neveen El Kilani and President of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Vladimir Lisin witnessed the inauguration of the ISSF World Championship Rifle/Pistol, held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi from October 12 to 18 in the New Administrative Capital.
Head of the Armed Forces Training Authority General Khaled Shawqi and Head of the Armed Forces Sport Authority Hossam Khedr are attending the inauguration ceremony.
More than 1,041 contestants from 88 countries are participating in the shooting competitions which qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Sobhi welcomed Egypt’s guests and thanked President Sisi for sponsoring the international sports event, asserting that Egypt is ready for hosting all international championships in view of the recent leap in its sports infrastructure.
He also extended thanks to the Armed Forces which have contributed to establishing the biggest Olympic City in the Middle East, noting that it is ready to host many international events.
ISSF President, for his part, welcomed the federation’s cooperation with Egypt and said the country is now possessing a strong sport infrastructure which qualify it to host world championships, expressing his best wishes to all competitors.
