The meeting of Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Abass with the Secretary General of African Commission Adefunke Adeyemi (AFCAC), which comes on the sidelines of the meetings of the 41th edition of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) that are currently held in Montreal, reveals and asserts the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s keenness on achieving the state’s goals in fulfilling co-operation with Africans and supporting them.
The Ministry always seeks to achieve cooperation and support for Africans with official meetings. It also aims to exploit the non-governmental communication with the countries of the African continent to achieve sustainable development, which meets the aims of the Ministry in particular and the aims of the state in general.
A photo of an Egyptian woman wearing a pilot’s uniform with Adeyemi grabbed attention during the last Aviation African Exhibition summit, which was held in Rwanda a few weeks ago.
In the first place, people thought that the woman took part in the summit as an Egyptian delegation, but later it turned out through social media that the woman works as a co-pilot in Almasria Universal Airlines, one of the Egyptian private airlines.
She participated in the conference as a representative of The African Section Ninety Nines International Organisation Of Women Pilots one of the non-governmental and non-profit international organisations, which is The Ninety-Nines International Organisation of Women Pilots. They promote aviation through education and STEM. They partnered with Airbus Foundation as part of the Youth Development Program. The goal is to encoyrage youth and ignite a passion that could grow into STEM career. This is in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
Through searching, it turned out that the organisation started in America. Then, it extended its branches to Canada, India, Australia and Europe. Its last branch was the African one, and it was established in 2018 by Dina Dawad from Egypt and Ivana Alvares-Marshall from Malawi with the aim of achieving sustainable development in Africa.
The Ministry should take into consideration the co-operation with the African department of this organisation that contributes to achieving proliferation in Africa and achieving the goals of sustainable development at the level of the Africa continent including Egypt.
