Egypt’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Ahmed Samir, said on Sunday that his ministry works to automate all its services with an eye on widening the scope of decentralisation and facilitating procedures for manufacturers and exporters.

He added during a meeting at his office in Cairo with some board members of the Egyptian Federation of Investors’ Associations that the automation of services would save time and effort.

“This will also contribute significantly encouraging the industry and export sectors in the coming period,” the minister said.

He encouraged investors to start their industrial projects, noting that his ministry’s different bodies are keen on constantly following up on the challenges facing the business community and the demands of the members of this community.

A ministry follow-up committee, the minister said, liaises with affiliated agencies to find ways to solve the problems of the members of the business community.

Minister Samir and his guests discussed a wide range of issues during the meeting, including means of pushing the local industrial sector forward and increasing national exports to foreign markets.

Egypt’s political leadership, the minister said, harbours great interest in providing all forms of support to these sectors.

“This support comes in the light of Egypt’s enormous industrial capabilities,” Minister Samir said.

He noted that these capabilities qualify Egypt to become a regional industrialisation hub.

The minister added that state agencies work hard to overcome the challenges facing investors and manufacturers.

He encouraged the Egyptian Federation of Investors’ Associations to benefit from the industrial parks his ministry is constructing in the different governorates.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry, the minister said, constructs 17 industrial parks in 15 governorates.

These parks, he added, would serve small manufacturers.

He explained that these parks contain shops whose size starts at 48 square meters.

The minister added that shops at the industrial parks are offered on terms and prices that suit different industrial activities, especially small ones.

“These small enterprises can also receive funding from several parties, including the Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises Development Agency,” the minister said.
