Factions to start national dialogue here next week

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has called for swift action in all Palestinian files in order to achieve stability in the Palestinian territories, in coordination with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The Palestinian factions also reiterated support for the Egyptian efforts to calm down the situation and their commitment to the ceasefire.

Palestinian President Abbas, meanwhile, appreciated the efforts of President Sisi to rearrange the internal Palestinian house and his call for a meeting of the factions in Egypt next week.

Several Palestinian delegations will head to Cairo next week to start national dialogue and to prepare for the meeting of the secretaries-general of the factions under the auspices of President Abbas.

President Sisi confirmed on Monday that Egypt is making a great effort to consolidate the truce and clear the way for the resumption of the peace process in co-operation with international powers, led by the United States. He called on all regional and international powers to support Egypt’s efforts to rebuild Gaza Strip.

President Sisi stressed the need to unify the Palestinian internal front, under the umbrella of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation. He expressed Egypt’s full support for the Palestinian people and its leaders, pointing out that Egypt is insisting to achieve Palestinian reconciliation as soon as possible.

In this regard, President Sisi stressed the importance of ending the Palestinian division, asserting the need to deliver humanitarian aid to the citizens of the Gaza Strip.

President Sisi also directed swift entry of equipment to contribute to the reconstruction effort in Gaza in response to the request of Palestinian President Abbas and in the light of the meeting of the Head of Egyptian General Intelligence Service Abbas Kamel with the ministers of the Palestinian Authority (PA).

Ministers from the PA are scheduled to arrive in Cairo next week, to coordinate the reconstruction, under the directives of Palestinian President Abbas.

President Abbas directed the PA ministers to fully co-operate with Egypt to expedite the implementation of the president’s initiative for reconstruction in the Gaza Strip.
