BERLIN – German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has described the climate change crisis as a pressing issue that should be confronted through adopting moderate solutions to fight it.

Addressing the high-level session of the Petersberg Climate Dialogue in Berlin, Scholz said It is important to pursue efforts to limit the earth’s warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

This year, extreme weather and other disasters require necessary efforts to keep global temperatures under 1.5 degrees Celsius, added the German chancellor.

Germany has adopted an ambitious plan based on reducing carbon emissions, he went on to say, noting that his country pledges to become carbon-neutral by 2045.

But the war in Ukraine has been accompanied by a sharp rise in energy prices, he went on to say.
