Samsung Electronics Egypt has launched the third round of Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC), a global CSR programme that aims to train youth in the field of IT & technology. The training programme has 120 students enrolled, 60 of whom will undergo a training in computer programming and coding, other 60 students will be trained in the area of artificial intelligence (AI), which falls in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 goal of empowering and equipping the Egyptian youth with the skills that are essential for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Samsung Electronics Egypt, in co-operation with the Life Makers Foundation Egypt and under the supervision of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, has launched the Innovation Campus programme in 2019 to take place in Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre (TIEC). The programme provides youth with the opportunity to improve their employment prospects and technological skills through a series of intensive training courses related to artificial intelligence.

This year, Samsung has established the first SIC alumni club, which is the first Egyptian community that brings together top-ranking computer programmemers from Egypt as well as youth from across the MENA region who have received Samsung training programme, to help drive the region toward digital transformation.

Furthermore, the trainers for the forthcoming rounds will be selected from the alumni club, with the aim of ensuring the programme’s sustainability and consistency in delivering training, as well as capitalizing on the young people who have shown excellence in the programme in passing their skills to new trainees.

“Samsung is always keen on developing the societies where it operates; whether through corporate social responsibility projects or improving the skills and qualification of the youth to enable them for the labour market, given that the majority of Egypt’s population is under the age of 30,” Ahmed Ali Jaafar, the Chief Marketing Officer at Samsung Electronics Egypt said.

He stressed that Egyptian youth have strong intelligence and a distinctive capacity to learn, which necessitates the providing of different educational programmes to improve their abilities in order to achieve viable opportunities, pointing out that this aligns with the Egyptian approach in this regard.

Jaafar also stated that Samsung is willing to continue this initiative to empower as many trainees as possible. Thus, the company established the SIC alumni club to facilitate communication among those who received the training as well as from those who have shown expertise in passing on their experiences to new trainees.

“We believe that the third batch of the SIC programme will witness greater development & capabilities of the youth in the programmeming and Ai fields. Samsung looks forward to the youths’ contributions to the Egyptian labor market which will aid in achieving Egypt’s 2030 Vision” Moussa Georgy, PR and CSR Manager at Samsung Electronics Egypt added.

He asserted that Samsung is very interested in what the young generation will bring to the table alongside the previous generations of programme graduates in order to achieve Egypt’s 2030 goals.
