MOSCOW – State Duma Deputy of the Crimean Region Alexey Chernyak revealed that the Russian military and air forces continue to control Snake Island in the Black Sea, RIA News reported on Friday.
Chernyak emphasized that Russian forces “liberated” the island from Ukrainian nationalists, resisting several attacks and taking down numerous aircraft and drones.
He added that the withdrawal of its troops from the Snake Island will prove that “no one in the world can accuse Russia of artificially creating hunger by blocking the exit of ships from Ukrainian ports and posing a threat to them.”
Earlier, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Alexey Gromov stated that Kiev intended to seize control of the island.
