Over the past 8 years, the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports set a number of goals for itself to achieve on the road to advancing the national sports system.
These goals came within the framework of directives by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
They included the improvement of sports infrastructure, development of youth centres, investment in human capital, and the encouragement of teamwork.
The ministry has succeeded in fulfilling many of these goals since 2014. It constructed sports cities, upgraded sports centres, especially in the Egyptian countryside and offered special care to sports talents.
The strategic axes of the Ministry of Youth and Sports include the following in the light of the government’s work programme:
* Developing the Egyptian personality
* Improving the health pattern
* Spreading cultural and scientific awareness
* Discovering and nurturing talented people
* Developing the championship sector for the maximum ambition of the Egyptian state
* Promoting Egyptian participation in sports tournaments
The goals of the ministry also included the protection of national security by spreading loyalty and belonging among youths, encouraging political participation, and promoting good governance, and transparency in the youth and sports fields.
The goals also included increasing employment by qualifying young people for the labour market and encouraging self-employment as a culture.
Achievements of youth and sports programmes and activities between 2014 and 2022
The ministry launched 5,503 programmes that created approximately 117 million participation opportunities for youth.
Ministry programmes by the number of those benefiting from them. Building the Egyptian personality. A total of 3,126 programmes that created around 76.3 million participation opportunities.
Operating levels advancement.
A total of 666 programmes that created about 14.8 million participation opportunities. Economic development and raising the efficiency of government performance. A total of 70 programmes that created 21.5 million participation opportunities. Protection of national security. A total of 1,241 programmes that created around 4.8 million participation opportunities.
Tokyo Olympics 2020
Egypt participated in the Tokyo Olympics with the largest delegation in its history. The delegation consisted of 134 players who participated in 23 games and won six medals.
Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games
Egypt’s delegation in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games consisted of 49 players who participated in eight games. Egypt won seven medals in the games.

* Development of 4,050 legal and five-a-side stadiums in sports centres and clubs
* Construction and development of eight youth cities
* Construction and development of 30 civil education centres, youth forum and scout camps
* Establishment of 253 youth centres
* Construction of three indoor halls for the 2021 IHF World Men’s Handball Championship
* Development of 11 sports clubs and four sports stadiums at cost of 13.2 billion Egyptian pounds
Investment projects at youth and sports facilities
The Sports City in the New Administrative Capital contains indoor halls, swimming pool complexes, a gymnastics building, a hall for people with disabilities and a tennis courts complex.
