Egypt’s Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad announced on Sunday Kharga city in the New Valley an eco-friendly and climate-friendly city.
This came as part of the celebrations of the World Environment Day which is held under the rubric “Only One Earth”.
Fouad was accompanied by Governor of New Valley Mohamed el Zamalout, parliamentarians and representatives of Azhar in addition to a number of top
officials from the Ministry of Environment and the governorate.
The minister visited the nine-feddan June 30 park in Kharga, a recreational cultural park with maquettes of the leading historical and cultural monuments of the country.
She also laid the cornerstone of a solar energy station to serve the mechanized governmental complex in north Kharga with a capacity of 1.5 megawatts at a cost of EGP 16 million.
