CAIRO – The Coptic Orthodox Church, under Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria, condemned the heinous Israeli attacks on al-Quds (East Jerusalem) and the Gaza Strip.
In a statement on Saturday, the church called all parties to go to the negotiating table to stem bloodshed.
The church hailed the key role played by Egypt in supporting the Palestinians, especially opening Egyptian hospitals for treating those injured in the Gaza Strip, the statement read.
It also highlighted Egypt’s political efforts to secure a Palestinian-Israeli truce, with a view to reaching a political solution protecting the Palestinians’ rights and achieving aspired peace, the statement added.
