CAIRO – Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Thursday asserted that Egypt attaches special importance to bolstering strategic co-operation relations with France at all fronts in addition to maximizing coordination and consultation with the French side over the past phase regarding political, security, military and economic issues of common interest with the aim of maintaining security and stability in the Middle East, the Mediterranean and African regions.

This came during a phone call made by President Sisi with his French counterpart Emmanuel Marcon on Thursday evening, said Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi.

During the call, President Sisi congratulated Macron on winning France’s presidential elections.

Meanwhile, Macron thanked Sisi for his congratulation, asserting that he was personally keen on enhancing positive and constructive interaction with Sisi to continue consultation and coordination regarding files of common interest as well as the latest regional and international developments.

Macron also voiced the French administration’s commitment to pursue enhancing joint cooperation with Egypt in all fields and supporting the president’s strenuous efforts to achieve comprehensive development along with backing the role played by Egypt to maintain peace, security and stability at the regional and international levels.

The spokesman also noted that the two presidents’ conversation covered a set of bilateral issues as they agreed on further supporting the strategic relations between them at all levels.

The two presidents also exchanged viewpoints regarding regional and international issues especially the situation in Ukraine as well as means of buttressing cooperation and coordination ahead of Egypt’s hosting of the UN Climate Conference (COP27) in Sharm El Sheikh in November. They also reviewed the prominent roles of Egypt and France in the issues of environment and climate, added the spokesman.
