CAIRO – Egypt’s Minister of Transport Kamel el Wazir has inspected work flow in the first line of the high-speed rail network project, which extends from the port of Ain Sokhna on the Red Sea, through Alexandria and Alamein, to the Mediterranean city of Marsa Matrouh.
Wazir inspected works in the area from Borg El Arab station to Ras Al Hekma at a total distance of 185 kilometers, the Ministry of Transport said in a statement on Friday.
The minister then visited El Hammam station, about 25 kilometers from Borg El Arab station. The station serves El Hammam town in addition to a number of villages in the country’s North Coast.

After visiting Alamein station, Wazir moved to see for himself ongoing works at the stations of Sidi Abdel Rahman, El Dabaa, Almaza, and Ras Al Hekma.
During the tour, the minister directed the officials concerned to implement all works according to the highest quality standards, as well as to work around the clock to complete the project as per the set timeline.
The project includes 10 stations for the high-speed train in addition to 12 regional ones.
The three-line high-speed train network extends over an area of nearly 2,000 kilometers.
