Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem launched a project titled “The People’s Cinema” which aims at screening the contemporary cinematic works at affordable prices to all segments of the society.
Abdel Dayem said in a statement that the project will be implemented through co-operation between the governorates’ cultural palaces and cinema houses affiliated to the General Authority for Cultural Places.
She said the project will start on the first day of Eid Al Fitr, adding that this project reflects the state’s belief in the role of arts and culture as soft powers in formulating the people’s awareness.
Abdel Dayem said that the first phase of the project will start in the four governorates; Alexnadira, Menufiya, Giza and Qena, while the second phase will cover four others, adding that the ticket will cost LE40.
The first movie to be screened during the project is Wahed Tani (Another person) starring Ahmed Helmy and directed by Mohamed Shaker Khodir.
