Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri and his Spanish counterpart José Manuel Albares praised the growing cooperation between Egypt and Spain during a session of talks they had on Monday as part of a visit Egypt’s top diplomat is currently paying to Madrid.
The two ministers asserted the importance of building on the outcomes of exchanged visits and contacts at all levels to serve the benefit of both countries and peoples, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez.
Talks between the two sides took up all files connected with bilateral relations, he said.
Shoukri asserted that Egypt looks forward to strengthening its partnership with Spain and promoting economic co-operation through boosting trade exchange, increasing Egyptian exports to the kingdom, and encouraging more direct Spanish investments in the Egyptian market to benefit from the promising opportunities it offers in many sectors including infrastructure, transport, water, renewable energy and electric mobility, the spokesman also said.
Talks also covered the giant national development projects in Egypt and preparations it is making to host the UN conference on climate change, COP27, in November, strengthening Egypt’s partnership with the European Union as well as many international and regional issues of mutual concern, particularly the Ukrainian crisis, the deteriorating situation in the Palestinian territories, the Libyan conflict and Egypt’s fixed stance as regards the Ethiopian dam, he added.
