CAIRO – The exchange rate of the US dollar against the Egyptian pound witnessed a slight rise at the beginning of Monday’s trading at Egypt’s major banks, following an upsurge wave over the past month in the wake of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE)’s decision to raise the interest rate by 1 per cent in March.
At the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) and Banque Misr, the dollar rate saw a scant surge, recording EGP 18.36 for buying and EGP 18.42 for selling.
At the Commercial International Bank (CIB), the dollar exchange rate registered LE18.37 for buying and EGP 18.44 for selling.
As for main currencies’ exchange rates, world capital markets and banks are being affected on the back of repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, with euro prices remaining stable for selling and buying.
The euro prices registered LE19.81 for buying and LE19.93 for selling at Banque Misr and the NBE.
At the CIB, the euro price registered LE19.83 for buying and LE19.97 for selling.
The pound sterling at the NBE and Banque Misr registered LE23.90 for buying and LE24.06 for selling.
At the CIB, the pound sterling exchange rate amounted to LE23.97 for buying and LE24.11 for selling.
The Saudi riyal price stood at LE4.89 for buying and LE4.91 for selling at Banque Misr and the NBE.
