Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli attended the signing ceremony of two agreements between the Holding Company for Biological Preparations and Vaccines (Vacsera) and the Chinese company Sinovac to manufacture the jab at Vacsera’s facilities.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Health Hala Zayed, Egyptian Ambassador in China Mohamed Al-Badri and Assistant Minister of Health Mohamed Hassani.
According to Minister Zayed, the first agreement concerns the manufacturing technology of the Covid-19 vaccine, whereby the Chinese company Sinovac gives Vacsera a limited licence to use its manufacturing technology and technical knowledge for the purpose of manufacturing the local final product of the vaccine in Vacsera’s manufacturing facilities in Egypt.
This agreement also stipulated that the Chinese company, Sinovac, provides Vacsera with all technical information related to the Covid-19 vaccine as well as technical assistance including examination of the manufacturing places of Vacsera and the manufacture of the local final product using the ready-made product provided by Sinovac.
The second agreement, meanwhile, covers the local manufacture of the Covid-19 vaccine and stipulates that the Chinese company Sinovac would grant a permit to Vacsera to refill, package, and manufacture the local final product of the Covid-19 vaccine in the private facilities of Vacsera.
