CAIRO – Chairperson of the Ready-made Garments Export Council of Egypt (RMGEC) Marie Louis said the sector’s exports increased 54 per cent to hit dlrs 204 million in January in 2022 compared to dlrs 132 million during same period in 2021.
In a statement Sunday, the RMGEC chairperson said US led the importing countries from Egypt in terms of ready-made garments, as its imports rose by 57%, dlrs 123 million, in January 2022, compared to dlrs 78 million in January 2021.
Egyptian ready-made garments exports to Europe also increased 31% to hit dlrs 37 million in the above mentioned period, compared to dlrs 28 million in the same period last year, Louis said.
Meantime, exports to Arab countries increased to 83%, reaching dlrs 25 million in January 2022, against dlrs 14 million previously, according to the RMGEC chairperson.
Louis confirmed the council will maintain efforts exerted to promote the exportation of ready-made clothes to different markets worldwide.
