Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said on Monday that global energy is facing a real test today, noting that the Kingdom has developed plans to safeguard energy security before crises occur.
In his address to the 25th World Petroleum Congress, held in Riyadh and reported by Saudi Al Ekhbariya channel, prince Abdulaziz said that Saudi Arabia had invested for decades in all aspects of energy supply chains. He stressed that the broad participation in the conference demonstrated that Riyadh would remain the energy capital.
He added that energy security cannot be taken for granted, emphasising that there can be no future for energy without security for all. He also affirmed that the Kingdom would overcome any challenges it faces while focusing on the future of coming generations.
The Saudi energy minister noted that energy systems worldwide are under pressure and that supply chains have come under attack. He pointed out that when global supply chains are disrupted, domestic capabilities are what ensure continuity.
He explained that Saudi Arabia had developed plans to safeguard energy security before crises arise, noting that developments over the past few weeks had been serious and that preparations must be equally serious.
