Egypt’s Ministry of Social Solidarity has announced 30 scholarships for a diploma in counselling and psychological support for children and adolescents, in cooperation with Ain Shams University, according to a press statement released by the Ministry on Monday.
The initiative comes as part of the Ministry’s efforts to improve social care services and enhance support for children and adolescents, under the directives of Social Solidarity Minister Maya Morsy.
The programme is part of a cooperation protocol signed by Morsy and Ain Shams University President Mohamed Diaa Zein El-Abedeen to train and qualify specialists in counselling and psychological support for children and adolescents.
It aims to strengthen the professional skills of social care workers and equip them to provide counselling and psychological support services.
The programme is also intended to improve the quality of care provided to children in residential care homes and alternative families, while enhancing psychological and social support for children and their families.
