A proposal for vocational training for Palestinians was among several subjects of talks between Manpower Minister Mohamed Saafan on Wednesday and Palestinian Minister of Social Development Ahmed Majdalani.

Saafan spoke of the political leadership’s interest in assisting the people of Palestine. He also suggested a training programme delivered by Egyptian instructors for Palestinian workers.

Training would be given in such crafts as carpet makings and pottery with a view to export, which will help trainees realise their ambitions for social and economic independence.

For his part, Majdalani praised the development and revival of handicrafts as unemployment in Palestine has risen.

This requires new for job creation for young Palestinians, Majdalani said. Discussions in the Economic and Social Council will cover the exchange of expertise between Arab countries, Majdalani added.

The meeting was part of the Palestinian delegation’s visit to Cairo to discuss preparations for the General Assembly of the Economic and Social Council this year.

Saafan spoke of the distinguished relations between Egypt and Palestine at the official and popular levels, stressing Egypt’s interest in continuing to strengthen these relations and push them forward at all levels.

He also praised the coordination between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on issues of mutual interest.

Saafan also praised the keenness of both presidents to strengthen joint Arab action in a way that contributes to addressing the multiple challenges facing the Arab nation at the current stage, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, which is the core of Egypt and the Arab world’s concerns, referring to Egypt’s historical role in this regard.
