Egypt uncovers rock-cut tombs, Roman camp in Nile Delta

Egyptian archaeologists have discovered several rock-cut tombs and remains of a Roman camp at the Tell el-Yahudiya archaeological site in Qalyubia province, north of Cairo.

The tombs feature several architectural designs and are believed to date from the late New Kingdom, around the first millennium BC, through the Late Period, according to the Supreme Council of Antiquities.

Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Governor Hassan Abdalla on Saturday took part in the 14th Meeting of the Governing Council of the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS) in Kenya’s capital Nairobi.

Egypt, Angola keen to boost cultural co-operation

Egypt and Angola have signed a five-year memorandum of understanding to expand cultural and artistic co-operation between the two countries.

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and acting Minister of Culture Abdelaziz Konsowa and Angolan Culture Minister Filipe Silvino de Pina Zau signed the agreement on Saturday following talks in Cairo on ways to strengthen cultural ties.

Egypt, Belgium to boost co-operation in seawater desalination

Egypt is exploring co-operation with Belgian company Hydrovolta on seawater desalination and the treatment of saline groundwater, with a focus on reducing costs, producing chemicals locally and maximising the value of desalination byproducts.

To this effect, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat met on Saturday with George Brik, Chairman of Hydrovolta, and his accompanying delegation.

UN peacekeeping chief calls for smooth Lebanon pull-out

The head of United Nations peacekeepers in Lebanon said on Saturday it was critical to ‌ensure other UN agencies and Lebanese troops could assume the tasks carried out by the force before it begins withdrawing at the end of this year.
