North Korea’s Kim Yo Jong, the influential sister of leader Kim Jong Un, said on Friday that US-led multinational military drills such as the Pacific Vanguard naval exercise are the “main source” of worsening tensions on the Korean Peninsula and said there would be “never ever” any change in Pyongyang’s course of strengthening its nuclear deterrent.
In a statement carried by state media KCNA, she also warned North Korea’s armed forces would “mobilise all means available” if the country’s military sovereignty and security interests were deemed to have been seriously violated.
