Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has called for promoting reliance on the latest technologies to bolster the capabilities of the state’s digital information infrastructure along with honing human power skills in associated fields.
The President’s remarks came during his meeting on Monday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
Efforts in these two parallel directions, the President explained, contribute directly to boosting the digital transformation process. Furthermore, the training of human cadres to enhance their digital skills enhances government performance and enables the state to provide citizens and the business sector with the most up-to-date services nationwide, the President said.
During the meeting, President Sisi urged expanding cooperation with African countries within the framework of the “Africa for Digital Creativity” initiative.
Such co-operation, the President added, can be expanded through encouraging Egyptian ICT companies to cooperate with their African counterparts in building integrated digital systems, as well as in providing specialized technical training for African youth in various fields of technology.
The President also followed up on the executive position of a number of projects being implemented by the government in the communications and information technology sector, spokesman Radi said.
In a presentation during the meeting, ICT Minister Talaat noted that these projects involve honing the skills of the Egyptian cadres operating in the ICT sector through expanded capacity-building, the Presidency spokesman said.
The ICT minister made special reference in this context to the project for to establish the Knowledge City in the New Administrative Capital, which will comprise an innovation complex and a sepcialised institute for information technology, in addition to hosting National Telecommunication Institute, spokesman Radi said.
Minister Talaat also reviewed in his presentation the efforts now under way to implement the “Digital Egypt” initiative and the African digital innovation initiative which President Sisi had earlier launched, spokesman Radi said.
