Egypt’s Ministry of Transport has launched a new digital accessibility service on its official website to make its information, content and services easier to access for people with disabilities, according to a statement released by the Ministry on Thursday.

The service was introduced in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities, as part of efforts to promote digital transformation and ensure wider access to technology.

The new service includes tools designed to meet the needs of different users. They include text-to-speech, speech-to-text and a sign language translator to support people with visual and hearing disabilities.

Users can also adjust the website’s display according to their needs, including dark mode, larger fonts, and changes to line height and letter spacing.

Other features are designed to make reading and navigation easier. These include special fonts for people with dyslexia, a reading mask, the option to hide images, and tools to highlight headings and links.

The service also supports keyboard shortcuts, helping people with motor and cognitive disabilities navigate the website and access its content and services more easily and independently.

The Ministry said the service reflects its commitment to equal opportunities and the digital inclusion of people with disabilities.
