Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar discussed on Monday opportunities to boost co-operation with MTS and Inspur in digital transformation, as part of efforts to advance Egypt’s healthcare system and improve the delivery of health services.
The minister met with a delegation from the two companies to explore potential co-operation in the health sector, with a particular focus on digital transformation and the development of an integrated digital healthcare system.
The meeting reviewed China’s experience in implementing digital transformation across its healthcare system, Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar said.
Discussions also covered how Egypt could benefit from this experience, the feasibility of applying relevant solutions locally and the expected outcomes, in line with the ministry’s vision for healthcare development and digital transformation.
He added that the two sides discussed co-operation on establishing a “Smart Healthcare Platform” for Egypt.
The platform would connect the various components of the health system through a unified digital framework, integrating patient data and medical histories across healthcare facilities while leveraging artificial intelligence to put patients at the centre of care.
Abdel-Ghaffar further noted that the platform would help overcome the fragmentation of hospitals and standalone systems by creating a connected and integrated healthcare ecosystem, enhancing operational efficiency, improving service quality and reducing costs.
The proposed platform would incorporate a range of digital services, including electronic health records, telemedicine and a command-and-control centre.
The meeting also addressed implementation phases, potential financing models and preparations for launching a pilot of the project’s first phase.
