Egypt’s Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem and the Indian Ambassador to Egypt Suresh K. Reddy held talks on Thursday aiming to further enhance industrial co-operation and attract more Indian investment to the Egyptian market.
The meeting reviewed the outcome of Hashem’s participation in the BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting in Jaipur, India, where he held talks with several Indian government officials and companies.
The two sides also discussed preparations for the upcoming visit of India’s Industry Minister to Cairo in November.
The visit will include participation in a business forum for Egyptian and Indian companies, as well as a tour of the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
Hashem noted that Egypt’s economic ties with India have developed significantly in recent years, with a large number of Indian companies operating across various local sectors.
He welcomed new Indian investments, stressing the value of Indian expertise in advanced technologies in developing local skills and supporting industrial integration between the two countries.
Hashem also called for stronger partnerships between Egyptian and Indian private-sector companies to meet local demand and expand exports.
He highlighted Egypt’s strategic location and trade agreements, which make the country a gateway to European, African and Arab markets.
The minister said Egypt also sought to exchange expertise with India on industrial policies, particularly its experience in reducing bureaucracy and streamlining procedures for manufacturers.
Reddy said India was keen to strengthen co-operation with Egypt, describing it as a key regional partner and an attractive hub for manufacturing, exports and investment.
