President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi, President Nikos Christodoulides of Cyprus, and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of Greece convened in Alamein on Tuesday for the trilateral summit, issuing a joint declaration reaffirming their commitment to peace, security and prosperity in the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East.

The leaders expressed pride in the historic ties among their peoples and pledged to continue strengthening the trilateral mechanism launched in Cairo in 2014. They emphasised respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and international law, rejecting unilateral actions that could undermine regional stability. They highlighted that maritime boundary agreements must comply with international law, including the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

On Cyprus, they welcomed UN efforts and reiterated support for a comprehensive settlement in line with Security Council resolutions. On Palestine, they reaffirmed support for a two‑state solution on the 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as capital, stressing the need to implement the second phase of President Trump’s plan for Gaza and UNSC Resolution 2803, ensure reconstruction, humanitarian access, and reject forced displacement or separation of Gaza from the West Bank.

The declaration also reiterated support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and the full implementation of UNSC Resolution 1701, calling for an end to attacks and Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory. On Libya, the leaders backed a Libyan‑owned political process, withdrawal of foreign forces and mercenaries, and UN‑led simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections.

Energy security was identified as a cornerstone of trilateral co‑operation, with emphasis on electricity interconnection projects such as the Egypt–Greece GREGY link, and on natural gas collaboration, including connecting Cypriot fields to Egyptian infrastructure for re‑export to Europe. They also stressed water security, recognising Egypt’s reliance on the Nile and reaffirming support for its water rights, calling for full compliance with international law, non‑harm, prior notification and rejection of unilateral measures, particularly regarding Ethiopia’s dam.

The leaders highlighted the importance of expanding economic, trade and investment co‑operation, encouraging private sector partnerships and business community engagement. They addressed migration, calling for a balanced approach combining security, development and legal labour mobility, including organised opportunities for Egyptian workers in Cyprus and Greece.

They welcomed progress in implementing the six pillars of the Egypt–EU strategic partnership signed in 2024, and pledged to continue strengthening the trilateral mechanism through regular follow‑up, government and private sector co‑ordination, and the establishment of a permanent secretariat in Nicosia as agreed at the tenth summit.

Concluding, the leaders reaffirmed their determination to build on past achievements and deepen the trilateral partnership to meet the aspirations of their peoples for a more secure, stable and prosperous future. Cyprus will host the eleventh summit.
