Egypt’s Ministry of Awqaf (Charitable Endowments) has launched new social media pages in English, French and Swahili across four digital platforms, seeking to expand communication with international audiences.
The pages were unveiled on the occasion of the Prophet Mohammed’s birthday, known as Mawlid al-Nabawi, the ministry said in a statement.
Minister Osama Al-Azhari said the initiative aimed to convey Egypt’s enlightened, moderate religious discourse to audiences worldwide and promote the values of mercy, peace and good character associated with the Prophet.
“The launch represents a step in a series of initiatives to strengthen Egypt’s soft power and spread goodness around the world,” Al-Azhari said, adding that the ministry sought to promote global peace and compassion.
The ministry said the new multilingual presence would offer varied media content tailored to different audiences, introduce mainstream Islamic teachings and counter extremist interpretations, while highlighting shared human values such as tolerance and kindness.
The pages were launched on Facebook, X, Instagram and TikTok, platforms described by the ministry as among the world’s most widely followed.
