As part of Egypt’s efforts to strengthen financial stability, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met Central Bank Governor Hassan Abdalla at the government headquarters in New Alamein. The talks focused on priority economic files and mechanisms to enhance monetary and fiscal coordination.
During the meeting, Madbouly underlined full alignment between government and central bank policies in preparing the national economic transformation programme, reflecting state priorities and directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The meeting reviewed measures to sustain the downward trend in inflation, boost dollar inflows, reinforce foreign currency reserves, and advance structural reforms.
Officials confirmed that Egypt maintains safe levels of foreign reserves to secure strategic imports, with continuous coordination to strengthen the strategic stock of essential goods.
Abdalla also highlighted the Central Bank’s adoption of regulations for the digital financial identity system (eKYC), enabling banks to verify customers electronically. He stressed that the framework ensures governance, clear responsibilities, technical standards, and robust data protection, supporting Egypt’s shift to digital financial services and financial inclusion.
This meeting reflects Egypt’s commitment to economic stability, monetary-fiscal coordination, and digital transformation.
