Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk and Dutch Agricultural Counsellor at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Cairo Tycho Vermeulen reviewed on Sunday opportunities for agricultural investment and the exchange of expertise.
The talks focused on opening new avenues for Dutch investment in Egypt, particularly in transferring modern irrigation technologies to reduce water consumption, developing protected agriculture and strengthening agricultural value chains.
The meeting also explored ways for Egypt to benefit from the Netherlands’ advanced experience in managing agricultural co-operatives and transforming them into strong economic entities. Planned programmes aim to support small farmers, improve marketing efficiency, raise incomes and enhance crop quality for both domestic and export markets.
Farouk reaffirmed Egypt’s readiness to facilitate the expansion of Dutch companies in the country, highlighting investment opportunities linked to national mega-projects and the state’s commitment to supporting investment, particularly in the agricultural sector.
