Egypt and China are planning new media projects to strengthen communication and promote dialogue between their two civilisations, National Media Authority Chairman Ahmed El-Moslemany said.

Speaking to China Global Television Network (CGTN) on the sidelines of the seventh Forum on China-Africa Co-operation in Beijing, El-Moslemany stressed the importance of continued co-operation between Egypt’s Maspero media complex and CGTN, part of China Media Group.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Egypt and China, he said, praising the growing media co-operation between the two countries under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, MENA reported.

El-Moslemany said ties between Egypt and China rested on two foundations: thousands of years of historical and civilisational interaction, and a modern partnership reflecting the strength of current relations.

The leaderships of both countries support a vision based on dialogue and the coexistence of civilisations rather than a clash between them, he added.

He also highlighted joint cultural and media productions broadcast on Egyptian television that had drawn wide interest in both countries. Among them was the documentary “The Story I Found In China,” featuring Egyptian actor Hussein Fahmy and presenting China’s history and civilisation.

Other documentaries, produced in co-operation with Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass, have explored the ancient Egyptian and Chinese civilisations and their treasures. One such programme, “Masks and Treasures,” compared the treasures of Tutankhamun with China’s ancient artifacts, creating a bridge between the two civilisations, El-Moslemany said.
