Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty highlighted the growing momentum in Egyptian-Djiboutian relations. The two countries are committed to expanding co-operation across various fields, particularly in energy, trade, investment and infrastructure.

Abdelatty made the remarks during a phone call on Saturday with Djiboutian Foreign Minister Abdoulkader Houssein Omar to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and exchange views on developments in the Horn of Africa.

The Egyptian top diplomat stressed the importance of expanding co-operation in new and renewable energy, construction, logistics zones, ports and maritime connectivity between the two countries. He also underscored the importance of further boosting the role of Egyptian companies and the private sector in supporting Djibouti’s national development plans.

Abdelatty also reviewed preparations for the African Union mid-year summit, scheduled to be held in Alamein on October 4. The summit will be preceded by the inaugural African Business Summit, held as part of the Alamein Business Forum for Africa.

He highlighted the forum’s role as a platform for strengthening economic and investment partnerships between Egypt and African countries, with broad participation expected from African leaders, senior officials, business leaders and private-sector representatives.

Abdelatty noted that the forum will be held every two years in Alamein, in line with a decision adopted by the African Union summit in Addis Ababa in February.

Regarding developments in the Horn of Africa, the two ministers exchanged views on the latest political and security developments and discussed ways to support efforts to promote stability and strengthen peace and security across Africa, particularly in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region.
