As part of Egypt’s efforts to revive the textile industry and restore the global reputation of Egyptian cotton, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli chaired a meeting in New Alamein to follow up on the development of the Cotton and Textile Holding Company. The session reflects President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi’s direct interest in the sector and the state’s drive to modernise spinning and weaving operations.
Madbouly underlined the importance of expanding private sector involvement in management and operations to maximise resources and enhance competitiveness. Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Issa presented updates on the national project to modernise the holding company, noting integrated plans to raise efficiency, boost production and strengthen Egypt’s position in local, regional and international markets.
Company officials Hisham El‑Sayed and Ahmed Shaker outlined measures to adopt modern technologies, improve product quality and open new export markets. The aim is to double textile exports and reinforce Egypt’s standing in the global textile industry.
This meeting highlights Egypt’s commitment to reviving the textile sector, supporting private investment, and restoring Egyptian cotton’s global reputation.
