Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi inspected Pharaonic Petroleum Company’s production site in Port Said to review drilling and exploration programmes, field development activities in the Mediterranean, and new projects, particularly the Harmattan gas field.

Badawi stressed the importance of deploying the latest drilling and exploration technologies to improve success rates and maximise Egypt’s gas resources.

He also lauded Pharaonic Petroleum’s exploration and field development plans.

The minister directed the company to accelerate the connection of the offshore Harmattan field to production facilities and assess all technical options to shorten the project timeline and bring the field onstream as soon as possible.

Harmattan is targeted to produce around 200 million cubic feet of natural gas per day, in addition to 4,400 barrels of condensates per day. The field will be connected to the Hapi processing facility through a 50-kilometre gas pipeline, with ENPPI acting as the main contractor in co-operation with Petrojet and Petroleum Marine Services (PMS).

Pharaonic Petroleum Chairman Hossam Zaki said the company achieved 100 per cent of its production target for FY2025/26.

He also highlighted exploration and production opportunities in the Ras El Bar, North Damietta and offshore El Borg areas.

The Tort-6 well is scheduled to come onstream before the end of the year, with a targeted production rate of 40 million cubic feet of gas per day.

Exploration activities also include drilling the West Atoll exploratory well using the Valaris DS-12 rig, at an investment of around $91 million and a planned depth of up to 6,000 metres, as well as the Pinio well in the Ras El Bar area.
