President of the National Council for Women (NCW), Amal Ammar, praised First Lady and honorary president of the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC), Entissar El Sisi, for her continued support for humanitarian and relief efforts, particularly assistance to Palestinians in Gaza.
Ammar made the remarks on Saturday during a “Volunteer Day” organised by the NCW in cooperation with the ERC as part of the “From Egyptian Women to Their Palestinian Sisters” initiative.
She stressed the importance of promoting a culture of volunteerism and humanitarian work, and of familiarising NCW employees with the ERC’s role in responding to humanitarian and relief needs.
Ammar said holding a volunteer day every month comes as part of preparations for a humanitarian aid convoy to Gaza under a cooperation protocol between the NCW, the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) and the ERC.
She said volunteering reflects solidarity and helps prepare a generation that is trained and aware, capable of providing support when needed.
ERC Executive Director Amal Imam praised the NCW’s participation, describing the event as part of ongoing cooperation between the two organisations to strengthen humanitarian and volunteer work.
The event also included a tour of the ERC’s headquarters, including its central operations room and a handicrafts exhibition.
A documentary highlighting the ERC’s history, achievements and humanitarian and relief work was also screened.
