Egypt is stepping up efforts to attract industrial investment and increase exports by boosting co-operation between its diplomatic missions abroad and the country’s industrial sector, Industry Minister Khaled Hashem said on Thursday.

Hashem was addressing a meeting with newly appointed heads of Egyptian diplomatic missions, where he outlined the ministry’s priorities and presented the updated Egyptian Industrial Strategy 2030.

The strategy identifies five industrial groups: priority industries, enabling industries, strategic industries, complementary industries, and circular economy and recycling industries.

Minister Hashem highlighted flagship programmes including productive villages, vocational training, industrial investment funds, the supplier development programme, and the Shams El-Sinaa initiative to install solar power stations at factories.

He noted the launch of the Unified Digital Platform for Manufacturers, which is designed to support investors throughout the lifecycle of their projects, from feasibility studies to solutions for distressed factories.

The ministry has also introduced lease-to-own mechanisms for industrial land and streamlined procedures for small and medium-sized investors.

Hashem stressed the role of Egyptian ambassadors abroad in promoting industrial investment opportunities and attracting technology-driven small and medium-sized enterprises, while highlighting the importance of supplier development, automotive localisation – particularly electric vehicles – and greater integration with African economies.

He underlined that the ministry’s focus is on deepening local manufacturing, improving product quality and enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian goods in global markets, supported by stronger links between research institutions and industry and international co-operation facilitated by Egypt’s diplomatic missions.
