Japan’s Hiroshima University has awarded Egyptian Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif an honorary doctorate in recognition of his education reforms over the past two years, the Ministry of Education announced on Saturday.
Hiroshima University President Mitsuo Ochi said the honour acknowledges Abdel Latif’s achievements in modernising Egypt’s education system and his efforts to strengthen academic ties between Egypt and Japan, particularly through collaboration with Hiroshima University.
The reforms included a wide range of joint initiatives in programming and artificial intelligence, financial literacy and teacher training, which have opened new avenues for academic cooperation and capacity building.
Minister Abdel Latif thanked Hiroshima University and said he dedicated the recognition to every teacher in Egypt.
“I dedicate this honour to every teacher in Egypt. They are the ones who truly deserve it,” he said, noting that the award reflects the progress made in Egypt’s education reform efforts with the support of the political leadership and the work of education officials and teachers.
Abdel Latif added that the educational partnership with Japan has become a successful model of international cooperation, expressing hope for further expansion of joint projects to improve education and prepare future generations for the changing demands of the future.
