Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdel-Aati held a phone call on Tuesday with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi as part of ongoing consultations between the two countries on bilateral ties and regional developments.

The two ministers praised the deep-rooted ties binding Egypt and Jordan, reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening coordination and consultation at both the bilateral and regional levels. The call focused on the latest developments in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

The two top diplomats expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation in the occupied Palestinian territories. They condemned the continued Israeli violations in the West Bank, Gaza and occupied East Jerusalem, as well as the escalating violence, stressing the need to halt all measures that undermine the prospects for peace and the two-state solution.

They also underscored the importance of implementing the US President’s peace plan for Gaza in all its aspects, with the aim of consolidating the ceasefire, ensuring the full and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, and creating the conditions for advancing to subsequent phases of the plan.

The two ministers also reviewed broader regional developments and ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions and contain the worsening security situation.

They stressed the need for an immediate halt to all military operations and escalatory actions, while emphasising that political and diplomatic solutions remain the only viable path to preventing a wider regional conflict.

Abdel-Aati reasserted Egypt’s full solidarity with Jordan, reiterating Cairo’s rejection of any infringement on the kingdom’s sovereignty.

For his part, Safadi expressed appreciation for Egypt’s supportive stance, stressing the importance of maintaining close coordination and consultation between the two countries during the coming period.
