Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati has reaffirmed the country’s unwavering support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity and national institutions.

He also stressed the importance of respecting Sudan’s sovereignty and security, upholding the principle of Sudanese ownership of the political process, and supporting efforts to end the conflict through a comprehensive political settlement that fulfils the aspirations of the Sudanese people for security, stability and development.

Abdel-Aati made the remarks during a telephone conversation the minister had with Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation Mohi El-Din Salem, held within the framework of ongoing consultation and coordination between the two brotherly countries.

During the call, Abdel-Aati affirmed Egypt’s readiness, together with Egyptian companies, to contribute to Sudan’s reconstruction once hostilities cease and security and peace are restored, highlighting the extensive expertise of Egyptian companies in construction and reconstruction projects.

The two ministers reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding co-operation across various fields, reflecting the strategic partnership between Egypt and Sudan and serving the common interests of both countries and their peoples, the Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khallaf said in a statement.

For his part, Sudan’s Foreign Minister Mohi El-Din Salem voiced his country’s appreciation for Egypt’s continued support at all levels and commended Cairo’s consistent position in backing Sudan’s unity and stability.

He reviewed the Sudanese government’s efforts to address current challenges, reaffirming Sudan’s commitment to maintaining close consultation and coordination with Egypt in the coming period, and expressing hope for broad participation by Egyptian companies in Sudan’s future reconstruction programmes.
