The activities of the joint Egyptian-Turkish military exercise “Golden Eagle” concluded on Saturday with the participation of personnel from the Egyptian Airborne Forces (Paratroopers), Thunderbolt (Sa’ka) Forces, and the Turkish Special Forces.
The exercise was conducted over several days at the combat training ranges of the Egyptian Airborne and Thunderbolt Forces commands.
The final phase of the exercise included carrying out an assault operation against a terrorist stronghold inside a residential area using helicopters, during which hostages were rescued, and terrorist elements were apprehended.
The exercise also featured several conventional and non-conventional live-fire drills, training on close-quarters room clearing, vertical assault techniques using an aircraft simulator, and procedures for dealing with explosive devices, first aid, and life-saving techniques.
This is in addition to the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and methods of countering them, and the execution of operational free-fall parachute jumps.
The exercise also included a “Friendship Jump” carrying the flags of Egypt and Türkiye, demonstrating the high level of professionalism and advanced technical skills achieved by the participating forces.
The concluding phase was attended by a number of senior Egyptian and Turkish Armed Forces commanders, as well as the Turkish military attaché in Cairo.
