Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli has directed the acceleration of preparations for launching the second phase of the Presidential Initiative “Decent Life”.
He also stressed the importance of building on the lessons learned from the first phase to expedite project implementation and maximise the developmental impact of investments aimed at improving public services in rural Egypt.
His remarks came during a meeting on Sunday attended by Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Randa el-Menshawy, Deputy Minister of Housing for Utilities Ahmed Omran, Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Major General Walid Aref, Director of Dar Al-Handasah and project consultant Ahmed Abdel-Azim, and officials from the relevant authorities.
The prime minister emphasised that the meeting formed part of ongoing efforts to finalise preparations for the second phase of the initiative, which seeks to enhance the quality and efficiency of essential services provided to residents of targeted rural villages.
Madbouli also underscored the importance of expanding the use of locally manufactured components in project implementation to support industrial localisation, strengthen national manufacturing capabilities and contribute to broader economic and development objectives.
The meeting reviewed the projects planned under the second phase across a wide range of service and development sectors, together with the proposed implementation, handover and operational timelines to ensure citizens begin benefiting from the projects as quickly as possible.
The meeting further reviewed progress achieved under the first phase of the Presidential Initiative “Decent Life”. Officials noted that work has been completed in 850 villages to date, including 55 villages completed between June 17 and July 12.
