The Petroleum Air Services Company launched a regular domestic airline between Cairo and Assiut, with two weekly flights.

This is the fourth line within the regular airline network run by the company as it has previously launched four regular routes, the first between Cairo and Aqaba in Jordan as the first airline to operate a regular line between the two cities.

The second is between Burj Al Arab in Alexandria and Amman in Jordan while the third is between Assiut and Amman in Jordan.

Major General Yahya Hussein, Chairman and Managing Director of the Petroleum Air Services Company, stated that the company is studying the operation of a number of international and domestic routes according to the needs of the travel market.

He also indicated that the aim of operating the regular commercial routes is to maximise the resources by optimising the capacity of the company’s aircraft fleet after implementing the basic lines network to serve petroleum companies to transport workers in the sector to work sites, many of which are located at sea, to which workers are transported by helicopters.

The company’s president added that, apart from the company’s economic goals of running regular routes, the decision to launch the airline between Cairo and Assiut was aimed at serving businessmen and investors to contribute to the state’s plan to develop Upper Egypt.

It is worth noting that the Petroleum Air Services Company was established in 1982 under the investment law. The General Petroleum Corporation owns 75 per cent of its capital while the Bristo Helicopter Company owns 25 per cent and that the basis of the company’s activity is the implementation of a regular network of lines throughout the year to serve oil companies by transporting workers to work sites.
