Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdel-Aati, held a telephone conversation on Saturday with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, Hakan Fidan.

The two sides discussed strengthening bilateral relations and exchanged views on pressing regional developments.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khallaf stated that the ministers welcomed the significant progress achieved in Egyptian-Turkish relations over recent months.

They reaffirmed their commitment to further advancing co-operation, building on the outcomes of the first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Co-operation Council, which was co-chaired by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Cairo in February 2026.

Both ministers stressed the importance of maintaining a continuous strategic dialogue and expanding economic and trade cooperation to serve the shared interests of both nations.

Turning to regional stability, the discussions focused heavily on the need to de-escalate current tensions and intensify joint efforts to revive negotiations between the United States and Iran.

The ministers emphasised the importance of adhering to the memorandum of understanding between the two sides, noting that dialogue and diplomacy are vital to achieving a comprehensive agreement and avoiding further regional escalation.

The call also reviewed ongoing coordination within the regional quadrilateral mechanism, which comprises Egypt, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan.

In this regard, both ministers reaffirmed the importance of continued consultations on security challenges, while upholding the core principles of state sovereignty, territorial integrity, non-interference in internal affairs, and the rejection of the use of force.

Addressing the Palestinian issue, the ministers reiterated their absolute rejection of any attempts to displace the Palestinian people.

They stressed the urgent need to halt the escalation of violence in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, calling for the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian assistance to the region.

The discussion covered the latest developments in Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, and Libya.

Both ministers emphasised the critical importance of supporting efforts to preserve the unity and sovereignty of national institutions, aiming to promote long-term security and stability across the region through continued dialogue.
