Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdel-Aati, met on Wednesday with Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom to strengthen coordination on the country’s economic development agenda and advance sustainable development goals.
The two ministers discussed ways to deepen institutional cooperation, improve the implementation of development programmes, direct resources toward priority sectors, and expand cooperation with international financial institutions and development partners to maximize access to financing and technical assistance.
Abdel-Aati said the Foreign Ministry continues to leverage Egypt’s diplomatic network to strengthen economic partnerships, attract foreign investment, mobilize development financing and secure technical support for priority projects.
He also outlined efforts to expand Egyptian exports, promote investment opportunities and encourage greater private sector participation to support economic growth and reinforce confidence in Egypt’s economic reform programme.
Rostom reviewed the Planning Ministry’s priorities, including improving the efficiency of public spending and investment and strengthening development planning to maximize the economic and social returns of government projects.
He also praised the Foreign Ministry’s role in coordinating with international partners and called for continued cooperation to make greater use of international financing initiatives.
The ministers also discussed the growing economic impact of escalating tensions in the Middle East, highlighting disruptions to global supply chains, rising transport, insurance and energy costs, and their implications for global growth, investment and trade, particularly in developing economies.
