The Ministry of Transport has marked a significant step in the development of Sokhna Port with the official entry into service of docks 3, 5 and 6, alongside the start of commercial operations at the Trans Cargo general cargo terminal. The day also witnessed the arrival of the first vessel at the terminal’s berths, the CHIPOLBROK SUN, a 200‑meter general cargo ship with a deadweight of 30,435 tons arriving from Saudi Arabia’s Duba Port.

This achievement comes within the framework of President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi’s directives to modernize Egypt’s ports and transform the country into a regional hub for transport, logistics and transit trade. Sokhna Port is a key component of the integrated “Sokhna–Alexandria” logistics corridor linking the Red Sea and the Mediterranean.

The new docks enhance the port’s capacity to receive vessels and handle diverse cargo types, strengthening its competitiveness regionally and internationally. The launch of Trans Cargo terminal adds significant operational capability, ensuring modern infrastructure and advanced services for shipping and cargo handling.

The ministry confirmed that these developments are part of a comprehensive plan to expand marine and logistics services, meet rising trade volumes, and attract global shipping lines. The project is expected to boost exports and imports, draw further investment, and create added value for the national economy, in line with Egypt’s vision to establish world‑class logistics centers.
