Qatari Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Thani paid an official visit to Ahl Masr Burn Hospital on Sunday, where he reaffirmed support for the hospital’s humanitarian mission and its pioneering role in advancing specialised burn care in Egypt and the wider region.
The ambassador was received by Heba El Sewedy, founder and chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of Ahl Masr Foundation and Ahl Masr Burn Hospital.
The visit highlighted continued interest in the hospital’s efforts to develop an integrated system for the treatment and rehabilitation of burn survivors.
Widely recognised as one of the Middle East’s leading specialised medical institutions, the hospital provides comprehensive care that extends beyond clinical treatment to include rehabilitation and psychosocial support.
During the visit, Ambassador Al Thani toured the hospital’s intensive care units, operating theatres, rehabilitation facilities, and psychological support centres.
He was briefed on its advanced medical technologies, treatment protocols, and integrated care model, which combines specialised medical treatment with psychological and social rehabilitation to support patients throughout their recovery.
El Sewedy described the visit as a renewed affirmation of the hospital’s humanitarian mission and its growing regional standing.
“This visit reflects the importance of the humanitarian role played by Ahl Masr Burn Hospital, not only as a specialised medical institution but also as a centre committed to transforming burn treatment in Egypt and across the Middle East,” she said.
Ambassador Al Thani praised the hospital as a pioneering humanitarian and medical institution that offers patients hope alongside world-class healthcare. He also received a detailed briefing on the hospital’s operating model, including patient admission procedures and treatment and rehabilitation pathways.
Ahl Masr Burn Hospital is the first and largest specialised burn treatment hospital in Africa and the Middle East. Opened in 2024 with a capacity of 60 beds, it operates an integrated model combining advanced medical care, rehabilitation, psychological support, professional training, and scientific research.
Since its inauguration, the hospital has helped increase burn survival rates in Egypt from 20 per cent to 75 per cent, significantly improving the quality of specialised burn care and patient outcomes nationwide.
